Serious anti-landslide measures need to be taken in the Upper Lars border checkpoint to ensure safety of traffic.

Head of Department of People Protection and Elimination of Outcomes of Disasters of Armenian Ministry of Emergency Hovhannes Yenichyan said this today, Mediamax reports.

‘’Upper Lars checkpoint is a landslide active zone. First of all, it’s the issue of Russian and Georgian sides’’, he said adding that Armenia is ready to support if needed.

Mediamax recalls that the Armenain and Russian sides agreed  a few days ago that Russia will set up a special task force which will study Upper Lars checkpoint within a month in order to repair certain parts of the border checkpoint.
