Donald Trump has nominated entrepreneur and investor David Sacks for a new position that will guide the US administration’s policies for artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency.

“David will focus on making America the clear global leader in both areas,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

For the first time ever, a U.S. president-elect has established a position to guide Washington’s AI and cryptocurrency policy.

Sacks, 52, is the co-founder of Craft Ventures and Yammer. As Bloomberg notes, Sacks helped Trump’s campaign get donations from the tech industry, in particular by organizing an event in support of the Republican candidate in San Francisco in June.

On December 5, bitcoin broke the historical maximum, exceeding $100 thousand. Trump has previously said that Washington should pay close attention to cryptocurrencies, otherwise this market will be dominated by other countries, primarily China.
