Yerevan /Mediamax/. Director of "Sociometer" center Aharon Adibekyan called upon the Armenian authorities to pay much attention to the demographic policy and stimulating growth of birth rate. Aharon Adibekyan noted that the Armenian population currently makes 2.5-2.7mln people."We're among the declining nations and according to the UN data, the Armenian population will make 1.5mln people, or 1mln 750 thousand people at best, and not all of them will be necessarily Armenians", noted Adibekyan. However, demographer Ruben Yeganyan expressed the opinion that "till political, economic, moral-psychological and social problems are solved in Armenia, demographic growth is impossible".Ruben Yeganyan said that "the overall birth rate ranges from 1.4 up to 1.5 and the generation is reproduced by around 70%. Over the recent year, the birth rate again declined as the 90-s generation which is comparatively less in number reached the reproductive age".Speaking about the marriage age, Aharon Adibekyan noted that brides from Armenia "aged" by 4-5 years and the bridegrooms - by 6 years. Ruben Yeganyan added that it's a global tendency which also impacts the birth rate. Tweet Views 5222
