World Economic Forum published Global Risks Report of 2016 focuses on 29 global risks in upcoming 10 years. They are estimated by likelyhood and terms of impact.

The risks are categorized in five groups – social, technological, economic, environmental and geographical.

Thus, failure of climate-change mitigation and adaptation is the first in terms of terms of impact: Large-scale involuntary migration is the first in terms of likelyhood.

The risk of using weapons of mass destruction is the second in terms of impact, the third is water crises, Large-scale involuntary migration is the fourth and evere energy price shock is the fifth.

In terms of likelihood extreme weather events is the second, failure of climate-change mitigation and adaptation is the third, Interstate conflict with regional consequences is the fourth and major natural catastrophes is the fifth.

It’s worth mentioning that after its presence in the top five most impactful risks for the past three years, the failure of climate change mitigation and adaptation has risen to the top and is perceived in 2016 as the most impactful risk for the years to come, ahead of weapons of mass destruction, ranking 2nd, and water crises, ranking 3rd .

“Unemployment and sharp fluctuations in energy prices are the global risks of doing business in the most basic terms. They were followed by failures of governance, fiscal crises and the risks of cyber attacks”. Meanwhile, Central Asia and Russian businesmen singled out fiscal crisis risk , unemployment and as well as uncontrolled inflation risks. US businesses mostly are worried about risks associated with cyber criminalism, while in Europe is more concerned about the fiscal crisis, the sharp energy price fluctuation risks”, said the head of Economy and Values research center, Manuk Hergnyan.

According to him fiscal crisis, currency and resource price flaktuations as well as the risks of military tension are some of the risks that Armenian businesmen can face. He also mentioned democracy and security balance risks.

It should be recalled that 750 experts from 140 countries took part in survey.
