Tinkoff superapp has made it possible to confirm operations with a selfie. Verification with a phone camera will serve as an alternative to standard verification methods, said Tinkoff press service.

Selfie payment confirmation is a part of the Tinkoff Protection’s intelligent security system. For example, if the system detects a client performing uncharacteristic operations or is conducting them from a new device, it will suggest to the client to turn on the phone camera and look into it before making the payment.

For users, selfies are one of the fastest ways to verify their identity (faster than answering a security question, for example). If taking a selfie is inconvenient at the moment, the client can choose another option to confirm the operations.

“We highly value the security of client transactions and we are constantly improving the ways to protect them. A selfie cannot be forgotten like a pin code or an answer to a security question. It is the easiest, fastest and most convenient way to verify your identity. All you need to confirm the operation is to take a picture of yourself with a mobile phone camera.



Initially, the selfie check will be used to confirm payments if there is doubt it is really the client making them. In the future, we will launch this verification method for any other situation that might require an alternative verification method. For instance, if a client needs to re-register in the system, they can easily do its using a selfie. For entrepreneurs, this option will also be useful for working in a personal account,” said Alexey Baklanov, Head of Anti-Fraud Management at Tinkoff.
