U.S. Ambassador John Heffern stated that Geoteam is the company which is engaged in responsible mining.

Touching upon Amulsar gold mine operated by Geoteam making part of Lydian International  in his interview to 168.am, the U.S. Ambassador said:

“I visited the three communities adjacent to the mine and spoke to the heads of the communities. They support the mine project and cooperate with the company. Large-scale preparatory works have been realized, for instance, a lab has been built in the village and many associates are from the village. That means the project creates new workplaces. They are engaged in right mining by introducing the best international practice and I hope they will have a positive impact on other Armenian mining companies in this regard”.

“When a company is financed by these international structures, it’s faced with a number of conditions: it should follow the best international practice and standards. There are mines not only in Armenia but in the U.S., Europe, Australia etc. That means it’s possible to correctly organize metal mining meeting all the requirements. And our goal is to support to make it true in Armenia”, said the diplomat.

The U.S. Ambasasador forecasted that the operation of Amulsar gold mine will yield large economic results for Armenia.

John Heffern also assured that they will keep actively cooperating with the civic initiatives and NGOs in mining and other spheres affecting the environment.
