Ashtarak Kat, Armenia’s major producer of milk production denies all the accusations charged by the State Commission for Economic Competition Protection (SCECP) of Armenia.Addressing a press conference in Yerevan today, the company’s Director said that the company’s traditional milk products (milk, sour-cream and yogurt) don’t contain vegetative oil declared by the SCECP, Mediamax reports “The coconut oil is contained in a number of our products, particularly in ice-cream, glazed curds, cream cheese, which is permitted worldwide by law and there are relevant notifications on the wrappers”, said Stepan Aslanyan.He called upon relevant state bodies and interested NGOs to conduct a relevant lab expertise of the company’s traditional milk production of date of production to make sure there is no oil and other admixtures contained in them. On October 16, the session of the SCECP made a decision to penalize three milk producer companies (Ashtarak Kat, Ani Kat and Dustr Marianna) at 1% of the annual revenue for finding coconut oil in their production, in sour cream particularly as well as lack of notifications on milk powder and failure to comply with fat content norms of the production.
