Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian-Polish Business Forum took place in Yerevan today within the framework of the official visit of Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski.

Speaking at the launch of the Forum, Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan said that despite close political cooperation, the trade turnover between the two countries is very low and there are almost no Polish investments in Armenian economy.

In 2010, the trade turnover between the countries made USD 21.2mln, USD1.9mln of which is the Armenian export to Poland, and in USD19.2mln – import. There are 12 companies in Armenia with participation of Polish capital.

“In Armenia there is a favorable investment climate established and good prerequisites set up for Polish investments”, Ara Petrosyan said.

Within the framework of the business forum three memoranda of understanding were signed among the Armenian Development Agency and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia and the Association of Employers of Poland, as well as the Chamber of Trade and Commerce of Armenia and the Chamber of Trade of Poland.

Roundtable of representatives of the financial and banking sectors also took place within the framework of the Business Forum. Leadership of the Polish National Economy Bank (BGK), Polish Reinsurance Company (Polish RE) and the Insurance Chamber participated in it.
