Yerevan/Mediamax/. About 10% of Armenian tourists who have insured their journeys, come across insurance cases, said the Deputy Director of Ingo Armenia insurance company Arevshat Meliksetyan.

He informed that as a result of the travel insurance, the average number of the insurance compensations in Ingo Armenia in the first half of 2011 made AMD465 000, and the maximum compensation rate made AMD 4.7 mln, Mediamax reports.

The average compensation rate on this insurance type made AMD 175 000 as of 2010, and the maximum rate made AMD 3.1mln.

The travel insurance makes about 8 % of the portfolio of Ingo Armenia, but the same index on Armenian insurance market is lower and makes 4-5%.

In 2010, Ingo Armenia received 150 applications for compensation on this insurance type, 139 of which were settled, and in the first quarter of 2011 all the remaining 43 applications were also settled.

“Travel insurance culture is being formed  in Armenia: more and more people leaving Armenia on tourist or business trips get insurance on  а voluntary basis’’, said the expert.
