Yerevan/Mediamax/. The volume of investments of Japanese “Shimizu” corporation into the methane processing program implemented jointly with Yerevan Municipality on the territory of Yerevan’s Nubarashen landfill will make $5,5mln.

As Mediamax was told in Yerevan Municipality today, the Japanese side has already invested $2,75mln into this project. Besides financing the project, the Japanese side will also finance the system maintenance expenses. The program is envisaged for 16 years.

The agreement on the implementation of the program for landfill methane collection and combustion on the territory of Nubarashen landfill between the Yerevan Municipality and Japanese “Shimizu” corporation was signed in 2009.

According to calculations, the certified reduction of СO2 -equivalent emissions will make 512 thousand tones.
