Yerevan/Mediamax/. Executive Director of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA), Gagik Makaryan, said today that the prices for sugar should have risen in price still in 2010, but it didn’t happen “thanks to the good will of importers”. Addressing a press conference today, Gagik Makaryan said that given the invoice price at AMD 240 per kilogram, the price for sugar should have made AMD 340-350 but not AMD 305. In his turn, the chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs, Vardan Ayvazian, recalled that although sugar production has already been launched in Armenia, however the raw materials are imported. “Necessary volumes of sugar beet production should also be provided,” he said.
