The number of employees of Armenia’s insurance sector has doubled as a result of introduction of Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance, Director General of “Nairi Insurance” Gor Khachatrian said in the interview to Mediamax. As Mediamax was told in the National Statistical Service of Armenia, as of late 2010 the number of employees of insurance companies is unknown yet, but the poll conducted in some insurance companies bears witness to the fact that the number of employees has grown at least twice. “I think the number of employees of the insurance sphere has doubled. The number of our employees has particularly grown from 56 up to 108. Besides, agent companies, insurance agents –individuals, damage assessment companies, set up especially to serve the CTP sphere, collaborate with us without labor contracts,” “Nairi Insurance” Director General stated. “Sil Insurance” informed Mediamax that the number of permanent employees of their company has grown by 22, thus making 55. 110 agents (6- legal entities, 104-induvuduals) cooperate with them without labor contracts. In 2010, “INGO Armenia” company, which occupies 20% of the CTP market, increased the number of its employees from 37 to 100. 150 other agents also cooperate with the company. In 2010, “Cascade Insurance” marked almost threefold growth in the number of employees, from 45 to 125, 89 of them working in Yerevan, and 36 in regions. Besides, the company works with 200 insurance agents, including individuals and legal entities. According to data provided by the Armenian Central Bank (CB) to Mediamax, as of 31 January 2011, 2927 legal entities, 236 private businessmen and 415 legal entities, being insurance agents, work on the territory of the republic.
