Yerevan/Mediamax/. As a result of yesterday’s currency trades at “NASDAQ OMX Armenia”, Armenian AMD appreciated by 0.49% (1.77 points) in correlations to USD, making 358.85 AMD per 1 USD. In the course of the current week, AMD appreciated by 0.96% (3.5 points). Commenting on Mediamax’s request on AMD appreciation, Director of “Renesa” Investment Company Vaghinak Saroyan stated that it is mainly conditioned by growth of demand for Armenian currency among importers, who by the end of the month and on the threshold of New Year holidays traditionally deal with customs registrations of a large number of goods, imported in the country, payment of taxes, and do not have a large volume of national currency at their disposal. “After sale of goods in the local market, there is the opposite process, during which the demand for foreign currency increases and AMD either starts depreciating, or remains at the same level”, Vaghinak Saroyan stated. He did not agree to the opinion that the current AMD appreciation is caused by CB interventions, aiming at deterring inflation, conditioning it exclusively by the seasonal factor. Tweet Views 14068
