Yerevan/Mediamax/. 4 month joint training program of Norwegian Norsk Energi and Armenian “Hydroenergetica” Company was launched in Yerevan today. It aims at developing technical capacity of Small Hydro Power Plants in Armenia. Mediamax reports that, speaking at the presentation of the program today, Director of Norsk Energi program Eun Joo Yi informed that its implementation will allow the hydro power sphere of Armenia meeting modern technical and environmental standards for building and operating plants, creating new workplaces for young technicians, as well as attracting necessary investments. The program in particular offers professional training for young specialists, during which they will get acquainted with strategic and technical situations, characteristic of hydro power plants. Following the results of the program, the young specialists will elaborate draft projects and business plans, meant for Armenian HPPs, which will be considered by investors. According to Areg Galstyan, Deputy Minister of Energy and National Resources, who was present at the event, over the past 5 years, the volume of electricity, produced by small Hydro Power Plants in Armenia, doubled and now makes about 5% of the entire electricity, produced in the country. “By 2020, the share of small Hydro Power Plants in Armenia is planned to reach up to 10%”, Areg Galstyan stated, stressing importance of international level specialists in the sphere in this context.
