Yerevan/Mediamax/. Monopoly, corruption and the consequences of the economic crisis are the most serious obstacles for Armenian businessmen.

The research, presented by “Caucasus Research Resource Centers” organization (CRRC-Armenia) in Yerevan today, reads this.

Mediamax reports that while presenting the results of the research, carried out among 400 heads of enterprises and 1515 adult representatives of households in Armenia, Yevgenya Paturyan, Program Manager for Data Initiative and Methodological Trainings of CRRC-Armenia, stated that 75% of polled entrepreneurs believe that the most serious obstacle along the way of business development in Armenia is the monopolies, 70% of the polled entrepreneurs consider corruption and the global financial crisis also serious obstacles.

CRRC-Armenia Country Director Heghine Manasyan informed that according to the research among households, corruption is the fifth most important problem in Armenia (after unemployment, poverty, general economic problems and high prices). According to the poll of entrepreneurs, corruption is the third most serious problem in Armenia after unemployment and general economic problems.

About half of the polled believe that corruption is most spread among top officials. According to the polled, the most corrupted spheres in Armenia are the electoral and judicial systems, prosecutor offices, healthcare, tax and customs systems and the police.

Heghine Manasyan stated that the majority of the polled pin hopes for reduction of corruption on the executive power. “About half of the polled note that definite progress is observed in anti-corruption actions of the government”, CRRC-Armenia Country Director stated.
