Yerevan /Mediamax/. If Armenia wants to be a competitive country, it should follow the American development model. Mediamax reports that Minister-Mentor of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew voiced such an opinion at the session of the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia in Yerevan today. According to him, this very model is suitable for Armenia. “Neither Georgia, not Azerbaijan, nor even Iran will help you, you should “jump over” this countries”, Lee Kuan Yew stated. He noted that there is the necessity to define the privilege, the distinguishing characteristic of the country and move ahead with that. “Armenia possesses large Diaspora abroad, especially in the USA, and the emphasis should be put on this very factor”, Minister-Mentor believes. Talking about Armenia’s relations with neighbors, Lee Kuan Yew stressed that “one should not be friends with neighbors, but relations should be preserved in the name of stability”. In his turn, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian stressed that advices and suggestions of Singaporean Minister-Mentor Lee Kuan Yew “will help us in further solution of problems”, and many steps of Singapore may be useful for Armenia.
