Yerevan /Mediamax/. As of August 1, 2009, level of unemployment makes 7% in Armenia, increasing by 0,7% as compared to the beginning of the year.

Mediamax informs, Head of "State Placement Service" Sona Harutyunyan said today that altogether 101 thousand people look for a job in the Republic, 84 thousand of which have unemployment status. At that only 25 thousand unemployed people get unemployment benefit. From the entire number of unemployed people 71% fall on women’s share.

Sona Harutyunyan admitted that the real level of unemployment in Armenia may differ from the official. In this connection "State Placement Service" initiated studies in this sphere jointly with international organizations, according to the results of which real index of unemployment in the country will be given.
