Yerevan /Mediamax/. Central Bank (CB) of Armenia considers the chance to permit bonds issues in foreign currency, CB Chairman Artur Javadyan stated in an interview to Mediamax. “At present we remain adherent to our policy, according to which securities in Armenia should be expressed only in AMD”, Artur Javadyan stated, adding that, nevertheless, in conditions of the global financial-economic crisis, permission to issue bonds in foreign currency is possible. Answering the question on the process of talks between the CB and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) concerning provision of loans in national currency to Armenian banks by EBRD, Artur Javadyan reminded that he made the proposal back in late 2008. “The tools, which EBRD may offer Armenian banks now will cost quite expensive to the latter and this is why the talks continue”, Artur Javadyan stated, adding that, besides EBRD, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) also expresses readiness to provide Armenian banks with loan resources in national currency.
