Yerevan /Mediamax/. Current state and prospects of development of the Armenian railroad were discussed by the Armenian President and President of “Russian Railroads” (RR) Vladimir Yakunin in Yerevan today.

As Mediamax was informed in the press service of the Armenian President, Head of RR informed Serzh Sargsian on his impressions after visiting the exhibitions of goods for railroad economy needs in Yerevan, which was organized by Armenian businessmen and the leadership of “South Caucasus Railroad” (SCR) Company. Vladimir Yakunin stressed that many of the presented products are already used not only in Armenia, but also in Russia, since the correlation of price and quality is quite attractive. Besides, according to SCR Head, his company always prefers local producers.

The interlocutors also discussed implementation of the concession agreement, in particular, programs on modernization of the Armenian railroad, repair of the rolling stock and rails, their technical reequipment, increase of the speeds of trains, as well as on creating a system of cargo transportation by an optimal route, as soon as possible and at the minimal price.

Vladimir Yakunin informed that the works, realized recently by SCR, in general satisfy him, serious steps for increasing efficiency of Armenian railroad management have been taken. Head of RR assured the Armenian President that all investment commitments will be fulfilled.
