Yerevan /Mediamax/. Fund of Ruben and Veronika Vardanyan’s Friends, “Armenia 2020” program and ARGA Fund put forward an initiative on rehabilitation and development of Tatev Monastery. The volume of investments to the project will make about $20mln.

The program is being realized under the aegis of National Competitiveness Fund of Armenia, and the responsibility for elaboration of the program is on “Ameria” Consulting Company.

Before the completion of the project, planned for 2012, “America” CJSC will also coordinate and control all works, carried out within the framework of the given project.

As Mediamax was told in “Ameria” today, the main goals of the project are:

Tourism development in southern regions of Armenia due to rehabilitation of Tatev Monastery, decentralization of scientific-educational infrastructure of the republic by means of establishing a research center in Syunik marz, provision of communication with remote villages of Syunik marz and assistance for agriculture business development in the region.

Within the framework of the given project necessary infrastructure will be set up for free access to Tatev Monastery, a cableway through Vorotan Gorge, unique as to its length, will be introduced, and will become the longest cableway in the world.

Realization of works will be entrusted to a world-famous organization, which possesses exceptional professional capacities and experience.

At the final stage of the project realization, they plan to build a hotel complex in Armenian architecture style of XVIII-XIX centuries, near the cableway. Works will be initiated simultaneously with the start of the cableway construction.
