In 2008, official monetary reserves of the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) increased by 52.8% and made $6bln 137mln.

Mediamax reports referring Trend that exceeding the six billion threshold surpassed the expectations of the National Bank, since the monetary reserves following the results of the year were expected to make $5.6-5.7bln.

“Now the main task is to secure the preservation of the reserves”, Chairman of the Board of NBA Elman Rustamov stated.

60% of NBA reserves are in dollars, and the remaining 40% - in euro and pound-sterling.
