Yerevan /Mediamax/. Presentation of iCON Communications, a new internet-provider, which provides## high-speed wireless broadband Internet access by WiMAX technologies, took place in Yerevan today. Mediamax reports Adam Kablanian, Chief Executive Officer of iCON Communications, stating at the presentation that “soon Armenia will have high-speed, reliable and available internet based on WiMAX technology”. According to Aram Kablanian, the Company has already invested $4mln in Armenia and plans to attract 10 thousand customers within the first year of its activity. Adam Kablanian stated that today internet in Armenia is low quality, difficult of access and expensive, noting that iCON Communications will significantly increase the availability and the quality of internet in Armenia and will cut down the term for connecting to the network to a few hours. “Our goal is to become a leader in the Armenian market in providing broadband access to internet, virtual private networks (VPN), as well as IP-telephony (VoIP)”, Adam Kablanian stated. The Company’s Chief Executive Officer singled out both corporate and private consumers as the target segment of the market. “Starting January, 2009, we will begin providing our services in the center of Yerevan and in April in the whole territory of the capital city. In 2009-2010 the services will be available all over Armenia”, Adam Kablanian stated. He also informed that iCON Communications is setting up WiMAX infrastructure jointly with Alcatel-Lucent and Siemens Companies. iCON Communications was founded in late 2007.
