Yerevan /Mediamax/. Commission for Protection of Economic Competition (CPEC) of Armenia initiated a case## against “ArmenTel” Company, basing on the statements of Web and Arminco internet providers. As the Spokeswoman of the Commission Armine Udumyan told Mediamax, in their statements the providers noted that there are limitations for competition in conditions, when “ArmenTel” Company provides access to internet. The statements of Web and Arminco note that ““ArmenTel” provides Hi-Line Unlimited internet-services, using the infrastructure of the telephone line, once belonging to it based on monopoly rights, and other providers are deprived of such opportunity”. Armine Udumyan informed that the providers turned to the Commission with a request to consider the given problem, as well as discuss the issue of recognizing “ArmenTel” as a Company, which occupies dominating position in the market of internet-services. Commenting on Mediamax’s request on the actions of the providers, Spokeswoman of “ArmenTel” Anush Begloyan stated that “the pretensions to our company are not quite clear, since many providers independently organize access to international channels of data transfer, organizing incoming traffic through satellite antennas, and only the outgoing – through “ArmenTel””. Commenting on the statements, according to which “ArmenTel” does not provide dedicated lines to providers, Anush Begloyan stressed that “we provided and continue providing such an opportunity to providers”. “The point is that technically it is not always possible. The opportunity to use the infrastructure is very limited, and “ArmenTel” tries in the first place to satisfy the needs of the final users and only then – the commercial customers”, Spokeswoman of “ArmenTel” stated. “In any case, “ArmenTel” will keep to the law and we will bring arguments backing our stance only within the framework of the present legislation”, Anush Begloyan resumed.
