Armenian government proposes to limit cash operations, exceeding the volume of 3mln drams

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian government approved today the draft law## “On limiting cash operations”.

As the member of the Board of Armenian Central Bank Vache Gabrielian stated at a briefing in Yerevan today, the draft law proposes, starting from January 1 of 2009, to limit cash operations, exceeding the sum of 3mln drams.

The CB representative noted that the law provides for non-cash operations also in case the salary exceeds 60 thousand drams. According to him, 50% of operations in Armenia are realized today by means of cash payments.

Vache Gabrielian noted that these measures are directed to decrease shadow economy.
