Yerevan /Mediamax/. Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia ##Tigran Sarkisian believes that “due to the stable basis of the relation with Russia, we will manage to overcome a number of problems, including ones, related to the temporary suspension of financial help within the framework of Millennium Challenge Account”. Mediamax reports that the CB Chairman said this in an interview, published today in the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”. Commenting on the statements of representatives of the U.S. side on the possible freezing of funding for Armenia within the framework of the Millennium Challenge Account, Tigran Sarkisian stated: “Of course, this program would very much help the country. But we to a greater extent rely on our own economic potential. Armenia will move forward along the path of market reforms. And the indices, which we already have and will surely have, will allow our U.S. colleagues reconsidering the decision and resuming the project. Due to a stable basis of relations with Russia, we will manage to overcome a number of problems, which we have now, including the ones, related to the temporary suspension of the financial help within the framework of the Millennium Challenge Program. The activity of interrelations with Russia, which has increased in the course of the recent three years, evidences that the financial-economic problems in Armenia are surmountable”. Talking about the Armenian-Russian economic relations, the CB Chairman stated: “Earlier, our economic relations remained 2-3 steps behind the political ones, in the course of the recent three years, we have been actively making up with that. For the Armenian and Russian governments, of priority are the new branches, a change-over to science intensive economy, high technology. This will stimulate the further integration or our economies”.
