The 1.5-month re-equipment program for the power generating unit of Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) has kicked off.

The aim of the program is to increase the efficiency and safety of the unit. General Electric is the company entrusted with the modernization program, which is worth EUR 18.8 million.

Following the technical re-equipment, the term of the capital repairs of the station will be extended by 2 years and make 6 years in total, which will secure a longer period of uninterrupted operation of the unit.

The power generating unit of Yerevan’s combined-cycle power plant was built with the ODA loan from Japanese government and launched into commercial operation on April 21, 2010.
