PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) together with the Center for Strategic Initiatives (CSI) organized a Workshop on Paying Taxes Methodology and Supporting the Government of Armenia’s Fiscal Policy on the 13th and 14th of March 2018. The participants of this two-day workshop were the RA Government officials, private sector representatives, as well as donor organizations. Starting from the first publication of the World Bank’s Doing Business in 2006 and for 12 subsequent years, PwC in conjunction with the World Bank prepares Paying Taxes report to provide further insight and analysis into the Paying Taxes data.In his welcoming speech the Country Managing Director of PwC Armenia Victor Nalbandyan particularly stated that PwC reassures its readiness to support the Armenian Government in its efforts towards improving overall business environment in Armenia by sharing PwC’s international practice with Armenian professionals.Senior Manager of Tax practice of PwC UK Tom Dane delivered a presentation on Paying Taxes, which is one of the indicators in the World Bank’s Doing Business study. Fiscal policy expert of PwC UK Simon Carey delivered a presentation on Supporting the Government of Armenia’s Fiscal Policy Agenda, mainly putting stress on shifting the balance of taxation towards indirect tax: pros, cons, and international experiences, best-practices of increasing the tax-to-GDP ratio, reducing the size of informal economy, investment tax incentives, and ways of enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism sector.
