Yerevan, May 24 /Mediamax/. Armenian President Robert Kocharian discussed with the Minister of Transport and Communication Andranik Margarian the issues of transfer of the Armenian Railroad to concession management. As Mediamax was told in the presidential press service today, “the President stated the importance of control over the given process”. During the meeting, which took place on May 23, Andranik Manukian also presented to Robert Kocharian the process of construction of the interstate Meghri-Kapan road, noting that it will be complete in September. Mediamax notes that on February 13 of 2007, Andranik Manukian stated that the Ministry of Transport and Communication considers a few applications on concession management of “Armenian Railroad” CJSC, presented by companies from Russia, France, Kazakhstan and other states. Mediamax recalls that the President of “Russian Railroads” OJSC Vladimir Yakunin stated in December of 2006: “The issue of the possible concession of the Armenian railroads is being decided upon on the level of the Russian leadership. This strategic issue for the development of the region was recently considered on the level of the country’s leadership”, Vladimir Yakunin stated.
