Yerevan, February 9 /Mediamax/. The number of mobile subscribers of the “ArmenTel” Company reached 450 thousand.

Mediamax reports referring Prime-Tass that “VimpelCom” Vice-President for Business Development in the CIS states Sergey Avdeev said this.

In November 2006, when “VimpelCom” purchased 90% share of “ArmenTel” from the Greek OTE, the number of the mobile subscribers of the Company was 400 thousand.

Mediamax recalls that in late December 2006, Sergey Avdeev stated that “ArmenTel” had lost the position of a leader on the market of mobile communication of Armenia.

“We should understand the account policy and the way they count the subscribers in Armenia. However, judging from the accounting, during 2006 VivaCell managed to leave behind the mobile division of “ArmenTel”. Today, the ration is about 600 thousand to 450 thousand. But the given fact does not at all confuse us. This is where we know how to work”, the Vice-President of “VimpelCom” was saying in an interview to the RBC Daily newspaper.
