Armenia International Airports General Manager Marcelo Wende said today that Zvartnots Airport has a great opportunity to become a regional hub, and the process of the becoming has already begun.

Marcelo Wende made this statement, answering the question from Banks.am at the press conference held by Qatar Airways in Yerevan.

“The “open skies” policy adopted by Armenia allows us to use Zvartnots to become a transit centre. Nevertheless, there are some issues still that we work on with the Armenian Government,” noted Marcelo Wende.

Zvartnots General Manager attached importance particularly to the continuous process of visa facilitation, which he believes will allow to substantially increase the passenger flow of the airport.

“Armenia should carry out a flexible policy in the sphere of air travel, taking example from Georgia,” stressed Marcelo Wende.
