This year Yerevan ranks 192nd among 211 countries with the highest cost of living for expatriates, as compared with last year, when Yerevan ranked 187th. It is stated in 2015 Cost of Living Survey conducted by Mercer, a global consulting firm. The costliest city for the third consecutive year is Luanda (1), the capital of Angola, which is followed by Hong Kong, Zurich, Singapore, Geneva, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul and Bern. Capital of Chad N’Djamena closes the top 10. Tbilisi, the capital of neighboring Georgia, ranks 198th, Baku – 33rd, and Istanbul – 99th. It is noteworthy that Moscow has dropped 41 spots and comes in 50th place, instead of last year’s 9th. The world’s least expensive cities for expatriates, according to Mercer’s survey, are Karachi (Pakistan), Windhoek (Namibia) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). The survey was conducted this March and measured the comparative cost of more than 200 items in each location, including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household goods, and entertainment.
