There are no grounds to review EU’s “GSP+” (Generalized Scheme of Preferences) for Armenia.First Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonyan told journalists today. “We take all steps with relevance to the required procedures and we see no ground to review “GSP+”.Garegin Melkonyan recalled that “GSP+” is granted upon the application submitted by countries. In order to obtain it, the countries should have membership in all 27 conventions included in the package and present them duly.“When Armenia submitted the application, the EU Commission studied it in details to see whether Armenia fulfills its commitments undertaken by the conventions or not. As a result, Armenia was granted a “GSP+” system. It presently functions and has clear regulations set by the EU Commission. According to the set procedure, a monitoring is being conducted in Armenia”, he said.It should be recalled that Armenia was involved in the new “GSP+” system on January 1, 2014. “GSP+” system allows exporting over 6000 goods of Armenian production to the EU with preferential, that is zero or reduced customs duties granted within the framework of the “GSP+” system.
