Yerevan /Mediamax/. The Board of Millennium Challenge Corporation has not sent Armenia an invitation to submit a project proposal this year. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern said it to journalists at the farewell press conference, answering the question as to whether rumors regarding the U.S. Corporation’s rejection of Armenia’s request are true or not. The U.S. Ambassador noted that getting support from Millennium Challenge Corporation is a multi-step process, the first step of which presumes monitoring of country indices. “If the presented indices of a country do not comply with the set norms, then the latter cannot submit a proposal. Over the past two years, Armenia’s indices used to comply with the requirements, yet, they were barely crossing the minimum threshold, especially in terms of the anti-corruption index”, he noted adding that in general, out of 23 countries meeting the indices two or three get an invitation to submit a project proposal.
