Yerevan, July 20. /Mediamax/. As of 31 May 2006, the balance on deposits in Armenian commercial banks stood at 101888mln drams, having increased by 25560mln drams or 33,5% as compared to the same period last year.

As the press service of the National Statistical Service of Armenia told Mediamax today, the number of clients of the republic’s banking system totaled 735.120: 37.323 legal entities and 697.797 individuals. In April, there were 904.437 accounts in Armenian commercial banks, 850.860 were owned by individuals and 53577 by legal entities.

In May 2006, the average credit interest rate in Armenian commercial banks made 16,52%. As the National Statistical Service told Mediamax today, in April this figure made 16,29%, in March - 16,51%.

The average deposit rate in May made 6,17%, in April - 5,57% and in March 5,17%.
