Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan had a meeting with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde. “IMF was and remains our important partner in macroeconomic issues. Since Armenia gained independence, macroeconomic stability has been one of our most significant achievements to which the IMF has greatly contributed over these years”, said Hovik Abrahamyan. The PM noted that the three-year program approved by the IMF Board of Governors early this year, outlines a new development phase for Armenia’s economy, and expressed confidence that following the implementation of the program Armenia will come closer to the countries with developing markets. Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that the government is firm on reforms in various areas aimed at developing the country’s economy and raising its competitiveness. “IMF is everyone’s home and Armenia is a full member of that family. Armenia is a reliable partner and we will go on with our cooperation with Armenia and will support structural reforms aimed at the country’s economic development”, said Christine Lagarde.
