Facebook has introduced a new payment system - Facebook Pay, which provides the users “a convenient and safe payment method” on Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The company has announced on its blog that with Facebook Pay users can add the preferred payment method, make payments and purchases on the apps, and access the payments history.

Facebook Pay supports debit and credit cards, as well as PayPal.

“Facebook Pay is part of our ongoing work to make commerce more convenient, accessible and secure for people on our apps. And in doing so, we believe we can help businesses grow and empower people everywhere to buy and sell things online. We’ll continue to develop Facebook Pay and look for ways to make it even more valuable for people on our apps,” Facebook said in the blog post.

This week the new payment system will be launched in the U.S. and available only on Facebook and Messenger first. Later on Facebook Pay is going to become available on other apps and in other countries.
