In 2008 and 2009, the U.S. repeatedly offered Armenian authorities to strengthen the control over the activity of Iranian Mellat Bank.It is indicated in another portion of cables published by Wikileaks, Mediamax reports.According to one of the cables particularly, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Joseph Pennington informed Washington D.C. in January 2008 that the officers of the Political Department of the Embassy discussed the option of employing extra vigilance on the Armenian Central Bank’s part in monitoring the financial transaction of the Iranian owned Bank Mellat in Yerevan.The documents published by Wikileaks bear witness to the fact that the U.S. Embassy has raised this issue to the Armenian part at least twice over 2009.
