Yerevan/Mediamax/. The new legislation on the protection of economic competition in Armenia will come into force in the days to come.

Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia (SCPEC), Artak Shaboyan, said this in Yerevan today at the session of SCPEC Public Council, Mediamax reports.

According to him, the new law will significantly increase the efficiency of Commission’s activity and facilitate quick response to violations of law.

Basic provisions of the new law are toughening of  punitive measures (collection of the whole income received as a result of anticompetitive actions from the subject), improvement of Commission’s probative base, use of both quantitative and qualitative criteria in defining dominating companies, etc.

SCPEC Chairman also informed that entities subject to administrative proceedings cannot be dissolved from now on (in order to avoid responsibility) without Commission’s permission.

“The only provision of the new law that has been argued by deputies refers to the expansion of our authorities during the inspection of enterprises,” Artak Shaboyan said, adding that for conducting a more detailed research of the activity of entity suspected of anticompetitive actions, the commission will appeal to tax authorities.
