Yerevan/Mediamax/. The Ministry of Economy of Armenia initiated the discussion of issues related to time zone change and abolition of seasonal time switch, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said in the interview to Mediamax. According to him, Armenia is currently located in the UTC+4 time zone, but the geographic location of the country dictates the necessity of changing the time zone to UTC+3. Tigran Davtyan said that it’s a very delicate issue which must be submitted to serious public discussion. “Specialists believe that the time zone change and the issue of seasonal time switch will help us be closer to Russia and Europe from the point of view of business and tourism,” the Economy Minister stated. At the same time, Tigran Davtyan said that the issue of transition to another time zone requires complex approach since it concerns the spheres of transportation, aviation in particular, and energy,” and “we should be careful in approaching these changes.” The Ministry’s initiative is in process, discussions are underway and I believe we will find a reasonable solution,” Tigran Davtyan said in the interview to Mediamax.
