Yerevan/Mediamax/. In 2011, 14 programs totaling 36bln AMD will be realized in transport and communication sphere of Armenia. Mediamax reports that Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan said this at a news conference in Yerevan today. According to him, this year they plan to repair 290km of roads, 6 bridges and realize works on preserving and operating roads. The Ministry intends to allocate 5.5bln AMD for those purposes. In 2011, one of the priorities will be to organize project works on constructing Vanadzor-Fioletovo railroad. Manuk Vardanyan stated that the new 32 kilometer railroad will connect Akhstafa-Ijevan-Hrazdan-Yerevan direction to Tbilisi-Gyumri-Masis direction and will thus provide for significant reduction of distance and the cost of railroad transportation. Half of the project financing will be realized by “Russian Railroads” company and the Armenian government, which will provide USD 49.9mln from the means of the Stabilization Fund. Minister also stated that this year they will elaborate technical-economic justification of North-South (Armenia-Iran) railroad construction. According to him, in 2011, amendments and changes are planned to be made to the law on “Electronic Communications”, according to which they plan to regulate issues of introducing a policy and technical normative documents in the country’s communication sphere.
