Revolut has received conditional approval from the US Officer of the Comptroller of the Currency to form a national bank.

The company is now working through remaining applications and final approval from the OCC as it progresses toward its planned 2027 launch of the proposed bank, Finextra reports.

Once all approvals are received, Revolut will be able to directly offer US customers a wide range of banking products including loans, credit cards as well as access to stablecoins and cryptocurrencies

Revolut founder and CEO Nik Storonsky says: "Conditional OCC approval is an important first step towards establishing the proposed Revolut Bank US. It gives us the foundation to build in the world's largest financial market and bring the full Revolut experience to millions of Americans."

The launch of the proposed US bank will build on Revolut's expanding footprint across the Americas, as the company mounts up banking licences throughout Latin America.

Revolut recently launched its Mexican bank and has been advancing regulatory efforts in Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Argentina, laying the groundwork for a fully connected financial network across the hemisphere.

Beyond the Americas, Revolut has continued its global push in 2026, obtaining bank licences in France, Australia and the UK, a payments licence in the UAE, and progressing a bank license application in Finland an South Africa.
