Yerevan/Mediamax/. Oppositional “Heritage” faction puts today the draft amendments to the law on “Compulsory Insurance” into circulation. They provide for abolition of Compulsory Insurance of Vehicle Owners’ Civil Liability (CIVOCL). Head of the faction Armen Martirosyan stated at a news conference today that car insurance hits the pockets of the population and is an additional source of income for individual persons. Oppositional MP stated that a car is a transport means, and not a source of wealth, and “authorities should realize that income should come from real economy and not from ordinary citizens”. According to him, CIVOCL is an important social issue, which has caused discontent among the country’s citizens, and “Heritage” faction will try to make the corresponding amendments. “The leadership pushes and stimulates people for revolutionary steps and does not protect the interests of its citizens”, Armen Martirosyan stated. Answering the question of Mediamax, Armen Martirosyan stated that in the first two readings, the faction voted the law down, however in the third reading it refrained, “hoping that CIVOCL would be carried out taking the interests of the population into consideration and not for own profit”.
