Yerevan/Mediamax/. Protocol on economic cooperation between Armenia and Belarus was signed in Yerevan today. Mediamax reports that the protocol was signed by Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan and Belarusian Minister of Trade Valentin Chekanov following the results of the session of Armenian-Byelorussian Interdepartmental Committee. According to Nerses Yeritsyan, the protocol clearly outlines the directions, which will be touched upon during the economic cooperation, in particular, agriculture, pharmaceutics and the jewelry sector. Valentin Chekanov noted that Armenia and Belarus are at the beginning of economic partnership path. “Trade and economic ties so far do not meet the high political level between the countries”, he stated. The Byelorussian Minister stated the countries have a huge potential and now the entire work should be directed at development of trade-economic relations in all directions. Valentin Chekanov noted that Belarus takes interest in supply of industrial and agricultural equipment to Armenia in exchange for export of spirits and fruits to Belarus. The trade turnover between Armenia and Belarus made USD 16.6mln in June, 2010, at that the Armenian export made USD 1.7mln, and import – USD 14.9mln. Tweet Views 10158
