Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Finance Minister Tigran Davtyan said in Yerevan today that Armenia entered the stage of economic development, in the course of which diversification of economy, export stimulation and provision of macroeconomic stability are top priority tasks. Mediamax reports that Tigran Davtyan said that “we will manage to solve the mentioned issues, if there are no surprises by the global economy”. International Monetary Fund (IMF) resident representative in Yerevan Guillermo Tolosa said that unlike many countries, which are still fighting against the global crisis consequences, Armenia managed to overcome economic “storm” due to the government’s timely interference. “IMF’s three-year programs in Armenia have nothing in common with overcoming economic crisis and are aimed at providing the further development of economy”, said Guillermo Tolosa. At the same time he noted, “the further path will be more complicated”. “Economy of Armenia will develop only if the government provides all the necessary infrastructure, makes business climate easier, improves tax and duty administration and stamps out corruption”, said Guillermo Tolosa, adding that the programs, implemented by MIF in Armenia touch all the mentioned spheres. Economy Minister of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan assured that the government realizes the existing challenges and is aimed at increasing the role and position of Armenia in global economy. The government will continue to render assistance to export oriented small and medium enterprises, and the structure of economy should be transformed as there are quite large sectors in Armenia, the efficiency of which is low, said Minister.
