Yerevan/Mediamax/. In January-May, 2010, Armenian GDP increased by 8.8%, as compared to the same period of 2009.

As Mediamax was informed in the National Statistical Service of Armenia today, GDP volume in January-May made 1 trillion 16bln 842.9mln AMD.

Volume of industrial production in January-May, 2010, made 305bln 61mln AMD, having increased by 12.1%, as compared to January-May of 2009.

12.5% growth is also registered in the sphere of construction, as compared to the same period last year. Growth is registered in all main sectors of economy, including agriculture (0.9%). Growth in electricity production in January-May made 14.6%, the retail trade turnover increased by 1.3%, the volume of services (without trade) – by 6.8%.

At that, the index of consumer prices in May, as compared to the beginning of the year, made 105.3%, as compared to May, 2009 – 107.6%. As compared to April, in May, 2010, the index of consumer prices increased by 1%. The prices for industrial production increased by 34.9% over a year.

Average monthly salary increased in Armenia in January-May, 2010, by 6.5%, as compared the analogous period of 2009, making 103 549 AMD. At that, the salary in budgetary organizations increased by 4.3% and made 84 199 AMD in the accounting period, while in non-budgetary organizations it made 131 323 AMD (increase – 8.4%).Officially registered number of unemployed increased by 1.2% in a year, making 84.9 thousands in May.

Armenian export increased by 64.5% in January-May, 2010
 
Foreign trade turnover of Armenia made AMD 686.6bln or USD 1bln 776mln in January-May, 2010, having increased by 34.5%, as compared to the same period of 2009.

As Mediamax was informed in the National Statistical Service of Armenia today, export volume increased by 64.5%, making AMD 141.1bln or USD 364.1mln in the accounting period. Import in January-May, 2010, increased by 28.5%, as compared to the same period of 2009, making AMD 545.5bln or USD 1bln 411.9mln.

Deficit of foreign trade balance in the accounting period made AMD 404.4bln or USD 1mln 47.8mln.
