Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian stated today that the necessity to diversify the economy became the main lesson, which the authorities of the country learnt from the global economic crisis. Head of the government said this today, speaking at the meeting with students of economics universities, organized at the initiative of Mediamax and www.Banks.am portal. Tigran Sargsian reminded that one of the main reasons of the economic decline of 14%, marked in Armenia in 2009, was the fact that the share of construction in GDP reached up to 30%. According to the Prime Minister, another lesson of the crisis was the necessity to stimulate other branches of economy, in particular, the IT sector. The Prime Minister noted that already today the share of IT in Armenian GDP makes about 5% and is comparable to the share of the mining industry. Head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the crisis revealed also the necessity to develop small and medium enterprise. “One should admit that we have not yet managed to secure equal conditions for developing business and we should attach a new impetus to the corresponding reforms”, Tigran Sargsian stressed.
