Yerevan /Mediamax/. European Union (EU) established 13.4 percent duties for import of aluminum foil from Armenia for the term of 5 years. Mediamax reports referring Bloomberg that the duties are established for exporters from Armenia, China and Brazil, as outcome of a probe opened in July 2008 after a dumping complaint by the European Association of Metals. EU accounts this decision for the striving to help local producers, which have undergone “material injury” as a result of dumped imports. The duties will come into effect on October 8. EU accepted an offer by Companhia Brasileira de Aluminio to sell at a minimum price in return for an exemption from the anti-dumping duty while rejecting a similar proposal by Rusal-Armenal. Market share of “Rusal-Armenal” in the European market of aluminum foil made 5.3% in 2008. Tweet Views 10697
