Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia registered record fall as compared to the remaining countries in annual “The Best Countries for Business, 2009” rating of Forbes Magazine. Mediamax reports referring the website of Forbes magazine that in the annual rating, published on March 18, Armenia fell for 31 points, occupying the 94th line among 127 countries. As compared to 2008, in Armenia Forbes registered growth of trade freedom (12th place), at that noting fall of ratings as to the following points: monetary freedom (53rd place), right for private property (96th place), innovations (100th place), technologies (106th place), corruption (89th place) and individual freedom (94th place). “The government made some improvements in tax and customs administration in recent years, but anti-corruption measures will be more difficult to implement. Despite strong economic growth, Armenia's unemployment rate remains high. Armenia will need to pursue additional economic reforms in order to improve its economic competitiveness and to build on recent improvements in poverty and unemployment”, Forbes notes. Azerbaijan in the given rating fell for 5 points, occupying the 87th place, Georgia, as compared to 2008, went up for 7 points and occupied the 61st place. Armenia neighbors Moldova and Kenya in the list. Denmark preserved its leadership in the list, being followed by the USA and Canada. To compose the list, data of the Heritage Foundation, the Global Economic Forum, the World Bank, Transparency International, Freedom House, Deloitte Tax, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and CIA were used.
