Yerevan /Mediamax/. Head of “Heritage” parliamentary faction Armen Martirosyan described today as “belated” the decision of the Central Bank of Armenia on shifting to floating exchange rate for the national currency. The MP stated in an interview to Mediamax today that the decision should have been made back in October, 2008, when the international financial-economic crisis was only starting to reveal itself in Armenia. Armen Martirosyan stated that USD exchange rate “was artificially undervalued, as a result of which importers gained super-profits, and small and medium enterprises found themselves in difficult situation”. Representative of “Heritage” expressed concern in connection with the fact that growth of prices will follow the establishment of a floating exchange rate, which will in many respects be speculative.
