Yerevan /Mediamax/. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian expressed hope today that cooperation with European structures will help Armenia overcome the negative influence of the global financial-economic crisis. As Mediamax was told in the press service of the Armenian government, Tigran Sargsian said this at his meeting with EU Special Representative in the South Caucasus Peter Semneby today. During the meeting, the sides discussed the influence of the global crisis on Armenian economy, the process of governmental programs’ realization, as well as the internal political situation, taking into account the possible increase of social tension under the crisis. Armenian Prime Minister presented the crisis prevention strategy of the government. Presenting the results of the talks with international financial organizations, including with WB and IMF, Tigran Sargsian stated that these talks concluded in an atmosphere of full mutual understanding. “We are ready to withstand the new wave of trials, and in the difficult period of 2009-2010, we will count on assistance of out partners from the European Union. Our programs should be to a particular extent be reconsidered, with preference being given to social and investment programs”, Armenian Prime Minister stated. The interlocutors also discussed the process, directed to normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Talking about the internal political situation in the country, Peter Semneby stated that EU is interested in establishment of stability in Armenia and elimination of March 1, 2008, events’ consequences through realization of open and transparent steps.
